Dr. Reitzel Awarded $424K NIGMS Grant
Dr. Adam Reitzel (Professor in Biological Sciences) has been awarded a R15 AREA grant by NIGMS (NIH) to study the roles of genetic and environmental variation in the epigenetics of the model sea anemone Nematostella vectensis. This research will determine how biotic and abiotic variation impacts the distribution and quantity of DNA methylation using a combination of high throughput sequencing, organismal experiments, and field collections throughout the United States. The R15 mechanism through NIH specifically provides opportunities for undergraduate students to engage in research opportunities.
